President Scott Simmons called the meeting
to order at 7:05 at the Capitol Heights Church of Christ Annex.
Minutes were distributed. Mark Russell moved
that the minutes be accepted. Annee
Caspari seconded and it was approved by
a voice vote.
There was no Treasurer's Report.
Committee Reports
Signage-Buddy Borland reported
that some new signs were being printed for the upcoming Christmas
tour.
Watchdog-Jay Wilkinson
and Jack Pearson reported that it had been very quiet. If residents
have problems with properties they should call city housing code
department. Yard-of-the-month-Judy Borland reported that a choice
had not been made for November and asked for recommendations.
Party-in-the-park-Carole
King reported that the party was very well attended with about
90 residents and guests. She thanked all those who brought food
and helped out. Time Capsule-Tim Vaught will call the committee
together to fine tune the details soon. Each family can fill 5
x 7 envelope with contents to be opened in 2100. Already submitted
items will be displayed at the Greek Church during the Christmas
tour. December 31 will be the deadline for submissions.
Christmas Tour-Jill Simmons
reviewed the ticket-selling process and encouraged everyone to
take some to sell. There will be a meeting of the homeowners on
tour on December 4 at 7:00 at the Simmons house. The Decorating
Contest will take place on Wednesday, December 13 at 5:00. She
encouraged everyone to buy at-shirt to help promote the event.
Rob Thornhill gave a report on the musical talent that he has
booked for the tour.
New Business-Scoff Simmons
presented the recommendation from the executive committee concerning
installing lighting on the Parkway. Rob Thornhill reviewed his
interactions with the city about the process. Ken Reynolds moved
that the Executive Committee be given the authority to proceed
with electrifying the Parkway. Frank Powell seconded and it was
approved by a voice vote.
Announcements-Jewell Pitts
asked what was happening with the lot at the corner of Federal
Drive and St. Charles. Ken Reynolds reported that he had talked
to Kyzer who was puffing in a retail strip. Kyzer had worked with
the city and was not able save the trees.
